Juniper School Rules

School rules are very important.  Without them our school would not be a safe place to be.  The following are the school rules written and adopted by the students and staff of Juniper School.

Overall guidelines for students are:

"Be Safe, Be Respectful, Be Responsible"

    1.    Follow directions first time given

    2.    Keep hands, feet and/or objects to one's self

    3.    Use soft voices when general talking is allowed

    4.    No swearing or teasing

    5.    Respect each other and adult authority

    6.    Raise your hand; do not interrupt your teacher or classmates

Additional Guidelines For Students

Students shall:

1. weather permitting, remain outdoors during recess and lunch.

2. report all accidents and problems to the teacher or proctor on duty.

3. turn in all lost and found items to the office.

4. place all bicycles in the bicycle area and lock them up.

5. help keep the school grounds neat and clean.

6. remain in assigned play areas.

7. obey requests by all persons of authority.

8. always walk quietly in the halls.

9. ride assigned bus home unless a note is received by the office.

10. be responsible for all assigned materials.

11. comply with the Student Behavior Expectations.

Students shall not:

1. be on campus before 8:25 a.m.

2. leave the school grounds without permission.

3. bring brothers or sisters to school to visit.

4. play in the restrooms or hallways during recess or P.E.

5. bring large amounts of money to school.

6. come to the office without a pass from a teacher or yard duty proctor.

7. cross the redlined quiet areas during recesses without a hall pass.

8. be out of the classroom without a hall pass.

9. be in any classroom without adult supervision.

10. bring radios, CD players, electronic or any other kind of toys to school.

Self Defense

Self defense is defined by our school district as protecting one's self from being injured by another person, i. e. blocking a punch, backing away, going to an adult before the conflict becomes physical.  Punching, kicking, or slapping back is not considered self defense.  Such actions may result in suspension.

Playground Rules

On the playground, a child will lose the remainder of his or her recess if they violate the rules.  Serious violations of the rules will be seen in the office immediately.  A listing of all playground rules is available in the office.  Students will participate in a playground rules assembly at the beginning of each school year.

Assertive Discipline

In the classroom students will progress through the room rules and consequences.  When those consequences are exhausted, the student will go to the office to talk with the Principal or Assistant Principal.

Children seen in the office will have a referral note mailed home.  The note is for your information, and to help us work together with your child to improve their behavior.  If a child is seen in the office for a discipline reason the parent will be called and an attempt will be made to discuss the issue.  If you have any questions or concerns, please call the Principal at school, 244-6161.

Suspension or Expulsion

Although 99% of our students follow the rules and have a great day at school, sometimes students break rules that call for drastic action on our

part to keep our students safe.  We use suspension as a last resort in the discipline plan.  California law states that each child has the right to attend school in a safe environment.  The following, documents contain specific actions that a child can be suspended or expelled for:

Cell Phones

Cell phones must be turned off during school hours and not seen.

  • Be Safe
  • Be Respectful
  • Be Responsible
