Sick/Hurt Students

Although we take precautions to protect our students and keep them healthy, protecting them from all harm is impossible. In the event that your child becomes ill or hurt, we will assess the situation and take necessary measures.  If your child is determined to be hurt significantly or ill and unable to return to class, we will begin calling the phone numbers on the emergency card. Please be sure these phone numbers are current! If your child needs medical attention and we are unable to reach you, for the safety of your child, we will not hesitate to call 9-1-1.

Medication At School

If your child needs to take prescription or non-prescription medication at school, it is necessary to return a signed form from your doctor. Forms can be obtained in our office. It is against state law for your child to transport any medication to and from school. You will need to bring and pick up the medication. We are happy to help you with medication, but we must follow state law and district policy.

Student Insurance

Your child's school does not provide medical insurance coverage for school accidents. This means that you are responsible for the medical bills if your child gets hurt during school activities. We strongly suggest a Student Health Care or High Option 24-Hour Plans which are especially helpful for those students with no other insurance coverage.

Lunches and Snacks

There is a daily breakfast and lunch program available to all students.  Students pay for and pick up their lunches in the lunch line. They may pay by the week or month if they wish. Free or reduced lunches are available to families that qualify under federal requirements. Students that forget their lunch will be given a lunch consisting of milk and fruit or fruit bar. They may also call home for their lunch. We do not serve lunch to kindergartners since they have an abbreviated day. Student lunches are $2.25 each and breakfasts are $1.50 each. Our district has recently adopted a Wellness Policy to benefit the health of our kids. We ask that you abide by this policy by only supplying students with healthy snacks. Also, if you are bringing treats to share with others in the classroom (for birthday, etc.) these snacks may not be homemade. They should be purchased in sealed containers. Healthy snacks are best (bags of crackers, pretzels, etc.) Some alternatives to bringing sweet treats are bookmarks, stickers, or pencils. Students may bring a snack to eat before or after recess. Students are not allowed to take anything onto the playground to eat. Only water is allowed in the classrooms. No glass bottles or jars are allowed on campus at any time. Please help to "nourish" your child academically by sending them to school with foods that feed their minds.  Sugary snacks and foods with little or no nutritional value will hinder their learning
